Maruti Suzuki launched the fourth-generation Swift in India in May 2024. The popular hatchback received several small upgrades yet retained the ethos and tradition of the Swift nameplate. Yet the India-spec Swift misses out on a few attributes which are offered in its international counterpart sold in markets like Europe. One of them is ADAS.
However, with Maruti’s re-envisioned focus on safety in recent times, the Swift could soon gain an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). A new video on YouTube shows a test mule of the Swift, spotted in Delhi NCR, which reveals that something is cooking. The prototype seen in this video gets some noticeable upgrades over the India-spec Swift.
Maruti Swift with ADAS for India?
Clad in back completely, the latest spy shots reveal sportier front and rear bumpers with more black inserts. The rear bumper, especially, has a slightly different profile and lower lip with a thin strip of chrome embedded to it. However, the biggest takeaway is the presence of a radar module housed within the front grille. This suggests that this prototype of Swift is laced with ADAS features.

There are cameras on the ORVMs which means it will most likely be equipped with Blind Spot Monitor, Lane keep assist, etc. That said, there are other visible upgrades which put doubts in our minds. For instance, this test mule comes with rear disc brakes which are only seen in the Japanese-spec (JDM) model. This suggests that this could be a Japan-spec model of Swift meant only for exports.
It is safe to presume that the India-spec Swift might not get ADAS in the distant future, keeping cost in mind. If this turns out to be an export model, then Swift will be the third Maruti Suzuki vehicle to be exported to Japan from India after Baleno and Fronx.
