Mahindra has already shared its intentions of having an extensive lineup of electric vehicles (EVs) which includes the Electric Origin range of SUVs based on the INGLO platform. Besides the born electric SUVs like the recently launched XEV 9e and BE 6, Mahindra also has the XUV400 EV, a derivative of the older XUV300.

The homegrown carmaker is now gearing up to bring out the XUV 3XO EV which has been spotted on multiple occasions previously. The upcoming compact electric SUV has been spotted yet again in a fully camouflaged avatar. The latest spy shots have reportedly been clicked in Rajkot while being on a trial run on the Rajkot-Ahmedabad Highway.

Mahindra XUV 3XO EV: Expected Exterior

As seen in the spy images, the testing prototype is wearing a thick camouflage covering the exterior of the vehicle altogether. That said, the spy shots gave a clear indication that it will be based on its ICE sibling with almost the exact same design, barring a few EV badges to distinguish between the two models.

This includes the same front fascia featuring an integrated headlamp and fog light cluster along with C-shaped LED DRLs flanking the a sealed-off faux grille with piano black treatment. At the rear, the connected C-shaped LED taillights are the most prominent highlight. Previous spy images have indicated that the SUV will carry Mahindra’s new logo design embellished in bronze. Also, the charging flap will be located on the front left fender.

Mahindra XUV 3XO EV: Expected Interiors & Features

Cabin interiors of the XUV 3XO EV will get the same layout as its fossil-fueled sibling although with a different colour scheme maybe. Mahindra might introduce a few Blue or Copper highlights to signify its electric DNA. The copper accents on the steering wheel and centre console along with piano black finish around the AC vents seen in the XUV400 will trickle down to the XUV 3XO EV.

Key features will include a 10.2-inch freestanding touchscreen infotainment system, a matching 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, dual-zone climate control with rear AC vents, a panoramic sunroof, Level-2 ADAS with camera-based technology, a 360-degree camera, power-adjustable driver’s seat, leatherette upholstery, cruise control, an auto-dimming IRVM, and more.

Mahindra XUV 3XO EV: Expected Powertrain

The XUV 3XO will be the second EV from Mahindra to be based on an ICE platform. The upcoming sub-compact electric SUV will be based on an updated platform derived from the XUV 3XO which itself is based on a modified version of the Ssangyong Tivoli. Hence, it is likely to borrow the same powertrain options as the XUV400.

This includes two battery pack choices: 34.5 kWh and 39.4 kWh, offering 375 km and 456 km of range on a single charge, respectively. Both variants will come with a front axle-mounted electric motor that dishes out 148 bhp and 310 NM of peak torque, which will make it the most powerful EV in its segment. We can expect a market launch of the XUV 3XO around the festive season later this year.
