Mahindra launched two of its first Electric Origin SUVs late last year in the form of BE 6 and XEV 9e. The former is priced starting at Rs 18.90 lakh and the latter gets a starting price of Rs 21.90 lakh (both ex-showroom). The XEV 9e is broadly offered in three broad trims: Pack One, Pack Two and Pack Three, signifying the battery capacity installed.
These variants can either be recharged with either a 7.2kW charger or a 11.2 kW charger. The coupe electric SUVs can also be had without the onboard charger. It has now come to light that the homegrown carmaker will launch new variants of the XEV 9e in the market.
Mahindra XEV 9e new variants
As per a circular released by the Delhi Transport Department, the homegrown carmaker has filed for homologation of four new variants of Mahindra XEV 9e. Mahindra Electric has applied for a total of six new variants for the coupe electric SUV. Out of the six new variants homologated, there will be one variant of Pack One and Pack Two each and four variants of Pack Three.Â

Previously, the larger 79kWh battery was exclusively available with the top-tier Pack Three trim. All other trims came equipped with the smaller 59kWh battery pack. With this update, XEV 9e will offer more flexibility. The 79kWh battery will now be offered with the Pack Three Select trim, which is the second-from-base option. Conversely, the 59kWh battery will become an available choice even on the top-spec Pack Three trim. This will allow Mahindra to price the to price the Pack Three trim more competitively.
Mahindra XEV 9e specs
The Mahindra XEV 9e comes in four distinct trims: Pack One, Pack Two, Pack Three Select, and Pack Three. Customers can choose between two battery pack options: a 59kWh unit or a larger 79kWh one. It dishes out 228 bhp and 282 bhp with the 59 kWh and 79 kWh batteries, respectively. Mahindra claims an ARAI-certified range of 542 km and 656 km, respectively on single charge. The carmaker says that the XEV 9e can accelerate from 0–100kmph in 6.8 seconds, for the larger battery pack.
