The excitement for many enthusiasts nears as Mahindra officially announced that the Thar 5-door will be called the Roxx. The Mahindra Thar Roxx will be launched on August 15, and the little teaser video, combined with a plethora of spy shots has given us enough details to highlight some important features of the SUV.
Before we dive into the features of the new Mahindra Thar Roxx, let’s take a quick look at the engine specifications. The Thar Roxx will likely have three engine options — a 130bhp 2.2-litre diesel, a 150bhp 2.0-litre petrol, and a 117bhp 1.5-litre diesel engine. Gearbox options will include a manual and automatic, while 4WD will be offered with the 2.2-litre diesel and 2.0-litre petrol engines.
Mahindra Thar Roxx: Features
The Mahindra Thar Roxx will have noticeable design updates compared to its three-door sibling. The Roxx features round LED headlights with integrated DRLs, a new grille design, a camera hidden in the grille, and slight tweaks to the bumper design. Another obvious design update will be the number of doors.
Other design elements such as the turn signals mounted on the fender, rearview mirrors, the ‘Thar’ badging, and a few other elements will be carried over from the three-door Thar. That said, the tail lamps will also see an update.
Moving to the interior, the biggest change apart from the seating arrangement will be a digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch infotainment system with wireless smartphone connectivity and navigation, ventilated seats, and possibly a panoramic sunroof amongst others.
Safety will also be uprated and the front camera suggests that the Thar could have ADAS features. Other safety features could include 6 airbags as well as standard. ABS with EBD, stability control, and ISOFIX child seat anchors will be standard offerings.
