Mahindra launched the Thar Roxx on Independence Day this year amidst huge anticipation. With prices starting at Rs 12.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the 5-door Thar is available in both rear-wheel and four-wheel drive configurations. Bookings for the body-on-frame SUV started earlier this month and clocked a massive 1.76 lakh units within the first hour.
Deliveries of the Thar Roxx have begun, however, it seems most of the customers have to wait a long time to get their hands on the Thar. It has now come to light that people willing to book the Thar Roxx may have to wait as long as eighteen months to bring it home. Which means most of the people who book the Roxx now will have to wait till 2026 to get hold of their car.
Mahindra Thar Roxx deliveries
Mahindra offers the Thar in six trims— MX1, MX3, MX5, AX3L, AX5L, and AX7L. Currently, Mahindra is only delivering the rear-wheel drive variants of Thar Roxx while deliveries for the four-wheel drive variants of the SUV will commence from 2025 onwards. Mahindra hasn’t shared the latest number of bookings for Thar Roxx but prospective buyers who have booked the vehicle have started receiving their tentative delivery date.

Mahindra is currently communicating tentative delivery timelines directly to customers. Dealers are not immediately informed about these timelines. To ensure smooth delivery, customers have been asked to share their received delivery timeline with their respective dealerships.
Once informed, the dealership will follow up with Mahindra to confirm and track the delivery process. If a customer doesn’t share the timeline, the dealership will wait for an official communication from Mahindra. After receiving this official communication, the dealership will inform the customer and await their response. If there’s no response for approximately a week, the vehicle may be allocated to the next customer in the queue.
Powering the Thar Roxx is a two engine option— a 2.0-litre mStallion turbo petrol engine and a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine. Both engines are available with two transmission options– a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic. The petrol variants are only available in rear-wheel drive configuration whereas the diesel engine also comes with the option of a 4×4 drivetrain with a low-range transfer case.
