Mahindra Thar Roxx was arguably the most anticipated new launch for 2024 and it lived up to its expectations when it made its debut on August 15. The homegrown carmaker has now officially begun accepting bookings for the 5-door Thar even though many dealerships across the country had already started accepting pre-bookings for the SUV unofficially.
Although not confirmed, if reports are to be believed, interested buyers need to pay a token amount of Rs 21,000 to book the Thar Roxx. Test drives for the body-on-frame SUV are currently underway at all dealerships across the country. Mahindra is offering the Thar Roxx in six variants— MX1, MX3, MX5, AX3L, AX5L, and AX7L.
Mahindra Thar Roxx: Details
Mahindra Thar Roxx is essentially a longer, 5-door version of the regular Thar. It gets the same boxy design with flat front and rear ends as the latter. Up front, it gets a family six-slatted grille flanked by circular LED headlamps, a clamshell bonnet, and muscular bumper giving the car a brawny appearance. The sides are adorned by massive wheel arches with black plastic claddings and filled up by 19-inch dual-tone machine-cut alloy wheels.
Inside the cabin, the Thar Roxx retains the utilitarian feel of its smaller sibling. Interior highlights include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a fully digital colour instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, and dual-tone upholstery.
Mahindra offers the Thar Roxx with two engine options— a 2.0-litre mStallion turbo petrol engine and a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine. Both engines are available with two transmission options– a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic. The petrol variants are only available in rear-wheel drive configuration whereas the diesel engine comes with the option of a 4×4 drivetrain with a low-range transfer case.
Mahindra Thar Roxx: Prices
Mahindra is offering the Thar Roxx at an introductory starting price of Rs 12.99 lakh for the petrol variants, and Rs 13.99 lakh for the diesel variant. Prices for the 4×2 variants go up to 18.99 lakh. Prices for the 4×4 variants of Thar Roxx ranges between Rs 18.79 lakh and Rs 22.49 lakh (all prices ex-showroom). The 4×4 drivetrain is only available in MX5, AX5L, and AX7L trims.
