Indian automaker Mahindra has officially revealed its all-new off-roading vehicles called Mahindra Roxor in the United States of America marking its much-awaited entry in the North American market. India’s leading SUV manufacturer has started a new subsidiary company named Mahindra Automotive North America or ‘MANA’ in America and Mahindra Roxor is the first product to be built in the MANA factory located in Auburn Hills near Detroit, Michigan. Mahindra Roxor is an only off-road vehicle and is not street legal.
Mahindra Roxor SUV will be sold at a starting price of $15,000 (approx 10 lakh) and shares its underpins with the Mahindra Thar but hosts a long lost of changes including a new front design that makes it different from Jeep brand’s design in America. Mahindra Roxor is also a bit more rugged and tough and has no doors and hard top roof. Mahindra says that the Roxor will be available with a staggering 900 colour & wrap options.
On the inside, Mahindra gets simple yet strong interior features with the dashboard finished in steel, unlike the plastic finish you find on the Mahindra Thar. It will also feature a lot of optional accessories including heavy-duty winches, off-road wheels, light bars. The Roxor gets simple seats and grab handles on the passenger side mounted on the dashboard along with cupholders.
Mahindra Roxor is 148 inches long, 62 inches wide and stands tall at 75 inches with a short wheelbase of 96 inches. It is powered by a 2.5L Turbo Diesel engine shedding a power of 62 HP and 195 Nm of torque mated to a 5-Speed manual gearbox. Considering this is not a street legal vehicle, Mahindra Roxio stuck to restricting its speed limit to 45 mph.

Currently, Mahindra Roxio is being assembled in the United States and the kit is being supplied from India. When compared to Mahindra Thar, the Roxio is about 50 per cent all-new and is also tuned much differently than the Indian That SUV. Going forward, Mahindra Roxor will be available with many more customisation options other than 9- colour & wrap options. There will be a separate customisation paint area inside the MANA plant which has provided the opportunity to raise over 250 jobs in Detroit.
By 2020, Mahindra has planned additional projects, which will result in 400 more jobs and another $600 million in local investment over that same period. Mahindra Roxor SUV will be through powersport dealers in the USA and through established Mahindra’s tractor dealerships.
