Enter the Kia Syros and the Skoda Kylaq, two new contenders eager to shake things up. Kia’s second compact SUV is all set to unveil its price tag in January, while Skoda’s Kylaq will officially make its debut in the same month. Kia Syros vs Skoda Kylaq: Engine Specs
Kia Syros will be available in two engine trims: a 1-litre turbo petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel. The 1-litre turbo petrol engine pumps out 118 bhp and 172 Nm of torque and is mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT automatic transmission. The 1.5-litre diesel engine produces 114 bhp and 250 Nm of torque, available with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic torque converter gearbox.Â
The Skoda Kylaq is powered by a 1-litre TSI turbocharged petrol engine, producing 114 bhp and 178 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic torque converter transmission. The manual variant can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 10.5 seconds, with a top speed of 188 kmph. Skoda claims a fuel efficiency of around 20 kmpl for the manual version.

Kia Syros vs Skoda Kylaq: Features
The Kia Syros is packed with segment-first features, including six parking sensors (including side sensors), flush door handles, and a 30-inch display that combines the infotainment system, instrument cluster, and climate control switches. It also supports over-the-air (OTA) updates. A standout feature is the flexible rear bench that can recline, slide, and split 60:40. The rear seat squab is ventilated, though the backrest lacks this feature. For added convenience, the Syros comes with a 4-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat, ensuring a comfortable driving experience, especially on long journeys.
Built on the MQB-A0-IN platform shared with Slavia and Kushaq, the Kylaq is poised to earn a full 5-star safety rating in crash tests. The top variant is loaded with features, including all-LED lighting, 17-inch alloy wheels, dual-tone interiors, and front and rear armrests. The cabin boasts an 8-inch digital driver’s display, wireless phone charging, front-ventilated seats, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a single-panel sunroof. The 10.1-inch infotainment system offers wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Kylaq is the first SUV in its class to offer 6-way electrically adjustable front seats, including the passenger seat.
Kia Syros vs Skoda Kylaq: Prices and Variants
Kia has not yet revealed the prices of the Syros, but we expect to be in the region of Rs 10 lakh to Rs 16 lakh, ex-showroom. The Kylaq is Skoda’s first sub-4 metre SUV and the most affordable model in Skoda’s lineup, starting at Rs 7.89 lakh. It is available in four variants—Classic, Signature, Signature Plus, and Prestige—offering both manual and automatic transmission options on all except for the base model. The Kylaq comes in seven colours — Tornado Red, Brilliant Silver, Candy White, Carbon Steel, Lava Blue, Deep Black, and the exclusive Olive Gold.
