Kia is putting the pedal to the metal in the sub-4 meter SUV segment with its second compact SUV, the Syros, joining the ranks alongside the Sonet. Set to take on one of the most fiercely competitive categories in the Indian market, the Syros brings a host of first-in-segment features to the table. But does it have enough power to crush the competition, including heavyweights like the Mahindra XUV300 and Hyundai Venue? Let’s find out.
Kia Syros vs Mahindra 3X0 vs Hyundai Venue: Engine Specs

All three compact SUVs are available with both petrol and diesel engines. The two South Korean SUVs share the same powertrains, but Hyundai offers an additional petrol trim. Kia has announced that the Syros will be powered by the 118 bhp 1-litre turbo petrol and the 1.5-litre diesel producing 114 bhp, while the third engine option in the Venue is the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol that makes 82 bhp. The 3X0 comes with 1-litre turbo petrol in two trims — 109 bhp and 129 bhp — the latter being the most powerful in the segment. The Mahindra SUV also offers a 1.5-litre that pumps out 115 bhp.

Kia Syros vs Mahindra 3X0 vs Hyundai Venue: Features

The new kid on the block, the Syros, has an advantage over its competitors as it’s the most recent model in the segment. It offers several segment-first features like six parking sensors, including side sensors, flush door handles, and a massive 30-inch display that integrates the infotainment system, driver’s instrument cluster, and climate control virtual switches. Plus, it supports over-the-air (OTA) updates for a seamless experience. A standout feature is its versatile rear bench, which can recline, slide, and split in a 60:40 configuration. While the rear seat squab is ventilated for comfort, the backrest misses this feature. For added convenience, the Syros also offers a 4-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat.
Both the 3X0 and Syros come with panoramic sunroof, while the Venue gets a single-panel sunroof. The Mahindra SUV is equipped with foglamps, rain sensors wipers, dual-zone climate control, a Harman Kardon sound system with a 380W amplifier, a 65W fast charging USB Type-C, front parking sensors and electronic parking brake with auto hold.
The senior citizen out of the three is the Venue, which was once the toast of the time but is now lacking features. It has the smallest 8-inch touchscreen, semi-digital instrument cluster, air purifier, auto-dimming IRVM, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The three SUVs come standard with 6 airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system, an inbuilt dash cam and ISOFIX mounts. Syros and 3X0 are equipped with Level 2 ADAS while the Venue has Level 1. The Venue misses out on the 360-degree camera and has a reverse parking camera. The Syros is the only SUV that offers both front and rear ventilated seats.
