With the global automotive industry racing towards electric mobility, there are plenty of EVs on cards, even for the Indian market. Hyundai is developing a new all-electric derivative of Creta. Test mules of the upcoming electric SUV have reportedly been spied on a few occasions recently.
Hyundai is expected to unveil the Creta EV globally in the second half 2024 while it is expected to go on sale in India by early 2025. A new online report has shared some critical details regarding the electric powertrain of the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV.
Hyundai Creta EV powertrain specs
According to Autocar India, Creta EV is expected to employ a 45kWh Lithium-ion battery pack. This is slightly smaller than the ones used by its primary rivals. For instance, MG ZS EV gets a 50.3kWh battery. On the other hand, Maruti Suzuki eVX is expected to offer two battery options– an entry-level 48kWh variant and a top-spec 60kWh unit.

The report further sheds light on the car’s electric motor. It reveals the Creta EV will share the electric motor with the latest-gen, entry-level Kona Electric on sale overseas. This means it will be powered by a single-motor setup driving the front wheels and delivering 136 bhp and 255 Nm of torque.
Unlike the eVX, the Creta EV is expected to be based on the same platform as its ICE-powered sibling. This means it will be underpinned by the same architecture as Kia Seltos which might also receive an all-electric derivative at some stage.
