Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Pvt Ltd (SAVWIPL) has achieved a significant manufacturing landmark, rolling out its 500,000th vehicle from its Indian production lines. This milestone reflects the brand’s long-standing commitment to the Indian market and its growing role in Skoda‘s global operations. With production facilities in Pune and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar (formerly Aurangabad), Skoda’s India journey, which began in 2001 with the Octavia, has now evolved into a diversified and modern product portfolio including the Kushaq, Slavia, and the recently launched sub-4-meter Kylaq.

Skoda’s Pune plant leads the charge

Nearly 70% of the 500,000 vehicles were manufactured at the Pune plant, underlining its importance within the SAVWIPL ecosystem. The remaining units came from the Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar facility. The cars built in India are not just catering to domestic demand but are also integral to Skoda’s global strategy. Indian-made components are now being assembled at the Group’s new facility in Vietnam, which will manufacture the Kushaq and Slavia locally, solidifying India’s status as a strategic export and production hub.

According to Andreas Dick, Skoda Auto’s Board Member for Production and Logistics, the milestone showcases operational excellence and the fusion of European engineering with Indian expertise. CEO Piyush Arora echoed this sentiment, emphasising that the company is not only building cars but also long-lasting relationships with customers. This year is particularly special as it coincides with Skoda’s 130th global anniversary and 25 years of operations in India.

Skoda’s record sales and Make-in-India vision

Skoda’s focus on local talent, world-class safety standards, and advanced manufacturing processes has made its Indian operations a standout example of global collaboration. In March 2025, Skoda achieved its highest-ever monthly sales in India, delivering 7,422 units, further cementing its position as a trusted brand. Beyond manufacturing, SAVWIPL continues to foster a culture of innovation and excellence, with recognition like ‘Great Place to Work’ and ‘Top Employer’. As India continues to rise as a global automotive player, Skoda’s ongoing investment and localisation strategy are clear indicators of long-term commitment.
