Force Motors has launched a facelifted version of their off-roader, the Gurkha, in two variants, a 5-door Xpedition version and a 3-door Xplorer trim. The facelifted version receives cosmetic changes on the inside and outside which include a new front grille, steel bumpers and new fog lamp design. According to the company, the new design language has been inspired by Mercedes-Benz G Wagon and both the Xpedition as well as Xplore versions are available in a hard top and a soft top format.

The facelifted Gurkha receives the all new C-in-C ladder type chassis, in order to increase its rigidity which will prove to be beneficial during extreme off-road conditions. The cabin of the 2017 Gurkha gets a manual air conditioning unit, 4-spoke steering wheel as well as a restyled floor console space for bottles and cups. Braking duties are carried over by disc brakes upfront and drum brakes at rear and the vehicle is offered with16 inch wheels .

The 2017 Force Gurkha is powered by the Mercedes-Benz OM 616, 2.6-litre Turbo Charged inter-cooled, direct injection diesel engine that delivers 85 hp of power and 230 Nm of torque. The engine, mated to a new G-28 5-speed all-synchromesh gearbox is now compliant with BSIV emission norms that are expected to be implemented by 1st April 2017. In terms of its off-roading credentials, the Force Gurkha is a direct competitor to the Mahindra Thar which starts from Rs 5.65 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.
