
Datsun redi-GO, the all-new product from Nissan’s low-cost car brand, made its global debut on April 14, 2016. Set to launch in the first week of June, bookings for the redi-GO will commence from May 1, 2016. Now that most details about the car are out, we compare it with two of its closest rivals – Renault Kwid and Alto 800.
Datsun redi-GO vs Renault Kwid vs Maruti Alto 800 – Prices
Though the prices of Datsun redi-GO haven’t been revealed yet, we expect it to be priced as aggressively as the Renault Kwid. The Renault Kwid costs between Rs 2.6 lakh – Rs 3.7 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Maruti Alto 800, on the other hand, is priced between Rs 2.6 lakh – Rs 3.8 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). In terms of pricing, all the three products cost almost equal.

Datsun redi-GO vs Renault Kwid vs Maruti Alto 800 – Specifications
Both the redi-Go and the Kwid feature the same 0.8-litre, 3-cylinder petrol mill that is good for 53bhp and 72Nm. For people not in the know, this engine too was jointly developed by Renault and Nissan. The Alto 800’s 0.8-litre engine churns out 47bhp and 69Nm. This makes Maruti’s small car the least powerful of the three.

With expected 3700mm length, 1600 width and around 1500mm height, the Datsun redi-GO is set to become the most spacious car in its league followed by the Renault Kwid. While the Renault Kwid measures 3,680mm in length, 1579mm in width and 1478mm in height, the Alto 800’s length, width and height are 3395mm, 1490mm and 1475mm respectively.
