News is coming in thick and fast as the latest teaser by Mahindra confirms that the new Thar Roxx will sport a panoramic roof. Following the footsteps of the 3X0 and the XUV700, this makes the Thar Roxx the first off-roader to get a panoramic sunroof. Mahindra has confirmed that the Thar Roxx will make its global debut on August 15.
Mahindra Thar Roxx: Engine Specs
The five-door Thar Roxx will retain all three engines from the current three-door Thar including the 1.5-litre diesel, 2.2-litre diesel and the 2-litre petrol. The 1.5-litre diesel will be the entry-level Thar Roxx, which will be based on a rear-wheel-drive powertrain. The engine output could differ from the three-door model, but at the moment, the 1.5-litre diesel has an output of 117 bhp and 300 Nm, the 2.2-litre diesel produces 130 bhp and 300 Nm and 150 bhp and 300 Nm for the petrol powertrain. All three engines come standard with a 6-speed manual while the 2.2-litre diesel and the 2-litre petrol are also available with a 6-speed automatic torque converter. Â
Mahindra Thar Roxx: Features
The new Thar Roxx will get a spruced-up cabin with a 10.25-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 10.25-inch driver’s instrument cluster, dual-zone climate control, and a 360-degree camera. Mahindra will up the bar in safety as the Thar will come equipped with a Level 2 ADAS suite, which is available in 3X0 and XUV700. It will also get six airbags as standard, parking sensors, a rear parking camera etc. As the Thar Roxx will be a five-door vehicle, it is expected to get rear air condition vents for the passengers.
Mahindra Thar Roxx: Competition
The Thar Roxx, available as a robust 4×4 or an urban-centric 4×2, will face limited competition. Its main rivals will be the Force Gurkha and the Maruti Suzuki Jimny, both of which do not offer a 4×2 variant.
