It’s not an overstatement to describe the competition as the striking Citroen Basalt against the unassuming yet robust Maruti Suzuki Brezza. The question arises: why compare the newcomer with the top-selling compact SUV? Surprisingly, the Coupe SUV’s price is lower than the Brezza. Here’s everything you need to know before signing on the dotted line.
Citroen Basalt vs Maruti Suzuki Brezza: Exteriors
The Basalt is the first made-in-India Coupe SUV in the mid-size SUV range. Its distinctive sloping roofline may not appeal to all, but it certainly challenges the conventional SUV design. The Coupe’s design plays a crucial role in enhancing the Basalt’s aerodynamics. It features the signature Citroen split headlight design with the iconic double Chevron at the centre. The lighting arrangement is similar to that of its relative, the C3 Aircross, with the addition of new LED projector lights and an updated bumper. Despite being outfitted with dual-tone 16-inch alloy wheels, the Basalt does not include LED tail lamps.
The Maruti Suzuki Brezza boasts a classic boxy design yet manages to appear robust and modern with its full LED lighting, including indicators and front fog lamps. The premier model is equipped with 16-inch alloy wheels. As a sub-4 metre SUV, it offers a boot space of 328 litres, in contrast to the Basalt’s 470 litres. Interestingly, the Brezza is broader and taller than the Basalt, attributed to its traditional roofline.
