SUVs are popular amongst new car buyers and celebrities, as they offer a commanding presence on the road. This has made them famous among celebrities, cricketers, footballers, and even politicians. That said, we take a look at newly elected Hajipur MP, Chirag Paswan’s car collection, which consists of two SUVs, one of which is iconic.

As per an affidavit submitted to EC, Chirag Paswan’s net worth stands at Rs 2.68 crore, which includes two SUVs worth Rs 35 lakh. Two? Is that all if one wonders, the answer is yes, according to the affidavit. But the two can make heads turn and are capable on and off the road. Here’s what Paswan owns.
Maruti Suzuki Gypsy
The Maruti Suzuki Gypsy needs no introduction as it was one of the most capable off-roaders ever sold in India. The Gypsy still has a hardcore fan following in India and many global markets, owing to its simplicity, its light stance, off-road capability, and its notorious electric gremlins. The latter is an infamous characteristic but adds to the charm of the Gypsy.
The particular model owned by Chirag Paswan is a 2015 model, valued at Rs 5 lakh as per the affidavit. The Maruti Suzuki Gypsy saw a few iterations and the 2015 model is powered by a 1.3-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that makes 80bhp and 103Nm of torque, while a 5-speed gearbox powered the rear wheels. The Gypsy gets a 4X4 drivetrain as standard.
Toyota Fortuner
Similar to the Gypsy, the Toyota Fortuner needs no introduction and was an immediate hit when it was launched in India many years ago. The Fortuner is capable both on and off the road, while its muscular stance gives it a good road presence.
Chirag Paswan owns a 2014 Toyota Fortuner, which is powered by a 3.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine that makes 171bhp and 343Nm of torque, either using a manual or an automatic gearbox. The Fortuner was available in 4X4 and 4X2 configurations, however, the exact model owned by Paswan is not clear.
