Mahindra is working on updating the original Thar, which made its debut in 2020. The off-roader is expected to receive major updates. Earlier, we had reported on the first batch of spy images of the Thar three-door facelift’s rear exterior images. Now with the new spy images, we can reveal a lot of new details, including the front design and the interiors.

2025 Mahindra Thar: Exterior design

For the first time, the 2025 Thar’s front fascia is revealed, and as expected, it takes design inspiration from the Thar Roxx, which was launched last August. The 3-door Thar sports a six-slat front grille with classic round headlights, which is expected to be LED. It retains the high-mounted indicators on the wheel arches. The fog lamps are housed in the front chunky-looking bumper. The Thar was partially clad around the front bumpers and the front grille. The company has retained Thar’s hard top.

2025 Mahindra Thar: Interiors and Engine

The new images reveal the cabin of the 2025 Mahindra Thar update, showing it gets the new 10.25-inch infotainment system in the Thar Roxx, replacing the smaller 7-inch one. It will be packed with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The 3-door off-roader has also borrowed the steering wheel from the Thar Roxx and sports a 10.25-inch all-digital instrument cluster. The spied Thar variants are a manual transmission and get an all-black cabin with carbon fibre-like upholstery design. Other major updates expected in the Thar are front ventilated seats and a 360-degree camera.

Moving on to the engine options, Mahindra will be retaining all three engines starting from the 2-litre petrol, 1.5-litre diesel and the more powerful 2.2-litre motors. The 2-litre petrol has an output of 150 bhp, with the manual having a torque of 300 Nm, while the automatic gets 320 Nm. The 1.5-litre turbo diesel churns out 117 bhp and 300 Nm of torque while the more powerful 2.2-litre diesel makes 130 bhp and 300 Nm. The Thar RWD and 4WD configurations, along with both a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic torque converter transmission.
