Mahindra and Mahindra has been in the news for all the right things, securing its position as India’s second most successful automaker in sales for the second consecutive month. Adding to this achievement, the company’s two all-electric vehicles, the BE 6 and XEV 9e, achieved another milestone by clocking 10,000 units since March 20, 2025.
While the company is making hay while the sun shines, an unhappy XEV 9e owner had taken to social media showing his displeasure with the local dealers. Raneesh, owner of the EV SUV, posted on X how the dealership was not co-operating and he was forced to reach out to a 24X7 Roadside Assistance company for help. The XEV 9e owner recounted the entire incident in a detailed thread on X, which is now private, but Mahindra has since stepped in and resolved the matter.
Glitches and frustration mar the experience of the Mahindra XEV 9e
According to a post on X by Raneesh (@rseb166), owner of a brand-new Mahindra XEV 9e, the electric SUV broke down within just a couple of days. The infotainment system displayed a warning—“Vehicle is about to stop because of critical system fault”—before the car came to a halt. Images posted on X also showed the infotainment system indicating a potential driving range of 448 km. The incident occurred at 9:30 am
Frantically reaching out for assistance to the local Mahindra dealership, Eram Motors, Thrissur Branch, Raneesh posted that he was told to call for a 24×7 Roadside Assistance services and tow the XEV 9e to the service station. With emotions running high, Raneesh took to social media to share his experience in a thread on X.
After consulting the dealer and requesting 24×7 roadside assistance, Raneesh felt uncertain about the technician who arrived, as the mechanic admitted it was his first time handling the XEV 9e. The customer decided to cancel the service. Raneesh managed to get the vehicle home, where, following discussions with Eram Motors, two dealership representatives inspected the EV and recommended taking it to the service center for a thorough checkup,
After five days of back and forth multiple with temperature rising high, Mahindra managed to get the EV repaired, but Raneesh posted on social media about the frustrating and disappointing service provided by the dealership.
A reality check
The EVs and its technology is still very new in India and there maybe some bugs and glitches that may effect the vehicle, but to paint the picture with the same paint would be unfair.
