Volkswagen revealed the updated GT range of Taigun earlier in March this year at its annual press conference in Jaipur. The German carmaker has now announced prices for the new 2024 Taigun GT range which starts at Rs 14.08 lakh and goes up to Rs 19.74 lakh (both ex-showroom).
It is the first time that the GT badge on Taigun will be available with the 1.0-litre TSI petrol unit. For now, Volkswagen has added two new GT trims to the Taigun lineup– GT Line and GT Plus Sport– both trim offered in manual as well automatic transmission options. Besides, both variants come with sportier blacked-out trims.
VW will also announce prices for the chrome-laced GT trims at a later stage. Deliveries of the Taigun GT Line and the Taigun GT Plus Sport trims will commence from this month itself. For clarity of our reader, the Taigun GT range is now broadly classified into three lineups namely— Sport, Chrome and GT Edge.

2024 Volkswagen Taigun GT range: Exterior & interiors
The latest two additions belong to the GT Sport range which gets sportier blacked-out trims like the front grille, air dams, front and rear bumpers, and alloy wheels. The more powerful and premium GT Plus Sport is differentiated from the GT Line thanks to the extensive use of red accents on the exterior including the GT badge on the front grille and fenders, and red brake callipers. Moreover, both these variants roll on 17-inch ‘Cassino’ black alloy wheels.
Inside the cabin as well, the GT Plus Sport gets sportier interiors with red accents on the dashboard, gear knob, centre console, steering wheel cover, armrest and seat upholstery. It also gets special red ‘GT’ branded seats. On the contrary, the GT Line gets no contrast red accents on the exterior and inside the cabin, the red accents are limited to only a thin stripe on the dashboard. Rest of the styling on both GT trims are identical to the standard Taigun.
2024 Volkswagen Taigun GT range: Features
When it comes to features, the Taigun GT Plus Sport is easily the better equipped SUV with features like a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an 8-inch digital driver’s display, automatic climate control, ambient lighting, powered front seats, and a single-pane sunroof. Passenger safety is taken care of by six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), a rear parking camera, and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).
The Taigun GT Line is loaded with features such as 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, wireless charger, rear parking camera, auto climate control, darkened LED headlamps, all-black cabin with grey stitching on upholstery, red ambient lighting, etc.
2024 Volkswagen Taigun GT range: Powertrain
Powering the Taigun GT Line is a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder TSI turbo petrol engine which kicks out 114 bhp and 178 Nm of peak torque. This motor is paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
On the other hand, the GT Plus Sport trim gets a more powerful 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, TSI EVO turbo petrol engine which pumps out 148 horses and 250 Nm of peak torque. Transmission duties on the 1.5-litre unit are carried out either by a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox.
