After Sonet, Kia has updated the 2024 Carens in India. The premium MPV has gained a few creature comforts along with a new transmission option and a new seating layout. The latest update has added seven new variants to the Carens range, taking the tally to a total of 30 variants.
Kia has added two six-seater variants of Carens in the lineup– in Prestige (O) and Luxury Plus trims. Prices for the six-seater variants starts at Rs 12.12 lakh (ex-showroom). The six-seater variants come with captain seats in the middle row.
2024 Kia Carens: 6-speed manual gearbox diesel variants
The Korean carmaker has added a new 6-speed manual gearbox with its diesel-powered variants. This option was earlier added to the 2024 Kia Seltos earlier in January this year. This 6-speed manual transmission will be available in six diesel-powered trims namely Prestige, Prestige (O), Prestige, Prestige Plus, Luxury, and Luxury Plus.Â
The traditional 6-speed manual transmission replaces the clutchless iMT gearbox previously offered with the diesel engine. The 1.5-litre oil burner pushes out 114 bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque. Besides the 6-speed manual, buyers can also opt for a 6-speed torque converter automatic. The diesel-manual combo of Carens starts at a price of Rs 12.67 lakh (ex-showroom).
The other two engine options– a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol and a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol remain unchanged with the same transmission options. The former is exclusively available with a 6-speed manual whereas the turbocharged power mill is offered with either 6-speed iMT clutchless manual or a 7-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox.
2024 Kia Carens: New features added
For 2024, Kia has also added some new features to the Carens lineup. This includes the addition of keyless entry, and burglar alarm in the Premium trim; LED DRLs, and FATC in the Prestige trim; and Sunroof’, along with LED Map lamp and room lamp in the Luxury trims. Moreover, the Premium (O) trim enhances convenience with features such as keyless entry, an 8-inch infotainment system, a shark fin antenna, steering wheel-mounted remote control, burglar alarms,and bolstered safety features.Â
The Prestige (O) trim benefits from additional features like a leatherette-wrapped gear knob, a smart key with push-button start, LED rear Combination lamp, LED DRL, and positioning lamp. The top-spec X-Line trim of Carens boasts of PIO Dashcam, and all window auto up and down with voice commands. Further, all Carens variants now come equipped with a 180W charger, an upgrade from the previous 120W charger.
2024 Kia Carens: New colour options
Kia has also added a brand new Pewter Olive colour option to the Carens lineup. This shade is available in all trims except the Carens X-Line. This addition means Carens is available in as many as provides eight monotone, three dual-tone options, and one exclusive colour for X-Line.
