Yamaha has given its entry-level sportbike, the R15 and R15M, new colour options in Indonesia. While these are the same motorcycles sold in India as well, we can expect the new colour shades to make it to our country as well.
The new R15 gets three new colour options – Tech Black, Icon Blue and Aggressive Grey – while the R15M gets a new Icon Performance shade. Apart from the colour additions, Yamaha has not touched the mechanicals of the motorcycles.
The Yamaha R15 and R15M are powered by the same 155cc, single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that makes 18bhp and 14Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The motorcycles are well-equipped for the segment and get traction control, a quickshifter, and a slipper clutch.
In India, the Yamaha R15 competes with the KTM RC 200, Bajaj Pulsar RS 200 and Suzuki Gixxer SF 250, while being priced at Rs 1.83 lakh onwards, ex-showroom. The motorcycle gets an 11-litre fuel tank while it tips the scale at 141kg.
