Yamaha has updated its sub-400cc naked street fighter, the MT-03 for the international markets and the motorcycle is expected to come to India soon. The new Yamaha MT-03 gets visual updates that make it look striking, however, mechanically, the motorcycle remains the same. Here’s a closer look at the updates the motorcycle gets.
New Yamaha MT-03 — What are the updates?
The updated Yamaha MT-03 gets a new tail section, which is no narrower compared to the model currently on sale in India. The rear section is more in tune with its fully-faired sibling, the Yamaha YZF-R3. The next big visual change is the new colour scheme – Ice Storm – which gives the motorcycle a white body with blue wheels.
The other change, probably the second biggest, is the negative LCD instrument console the new Yamaha MT-03 gets. This is the same unit borrowed from the YZF-R3, and it offers smartphone connectivity in the form of calls, messages, and even navigation. The final update is the slipper clutch.
Mechanically, there are no changes and the motorcycle continues to be powered by a 321cc, liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine that makes 41bhp and 30Nm of torque with the help of a six-speed gearbox. The Yamaha MT-03 competes with the KTM 390 Duke, TVS Apache RTR 310, and the upcoming Aprilia Tuono 457.
