250cc motorcycles sit in a sweet spot between performance and fuel efficiency. They slant slightly towards the performance side, but they still return decent mileage, be it commuting in the city or out on the highways. That said, manufacturers like Hero MotoCorp, KTM, Suzuki, and Bajaj offer a street naked in the 250cc segment and here’s a look at their mileage.
Most fuel-efficient 250cc street nakeds
Bajaj

Let’s get the list rolling with Bajaj, as the company has two offerings in this segment — Pulsar N250 and Dominar 250. The former uses a 250cc oil and air-cooled engine that makes 24bhp and returns a mileage of 44kmpl, the highest in our list. The Dominar uses a 250cc liquid-cooled engine and a six-speed gearbox, which returns a mileage of 32kmpl. The Bajaj Dominar 250 is almost 20kg heavier than the N250, affecting its fuel efficiency.
Hero MotoCorp

Hero’s offering in the 250cc street naked category is the Xtreme 250R — a brand-new motorcycle. The motorcycle features a sharp design language and handles like a dream, while its 250cc engine is claimed to be the quickest in terms of acceleration. The new Hero Xtreme 250R is priced at Rs 1.80 lakh, ex-showroom. The 30bhp motorcycle is on par with performance when compared to its closest competitor and returns a mileage of 36kmpl.
Suzuki

Suzuki offers the Gixxer 250 in the street naked class and the 250cc oil-cooled engine mated to a six-speed gearbox returns a milage of 35kmpl. The engine makes 26bhp and this is the same engine that powers its semi-faired sibling, the Gixxer 250 SF and its adventure-touring counterpart, the V-Strom SX.
KTM

The KTM has been a benchmark for the segment, as the 250 Duke offers more power than the 200 Duke, while the delivery of the power is linear, unlike its larger sibling, the 390 Duke. The KTM makes 30bhp – similar to the Xtreme 250R – and it returns a mileage of 32kmpl – similar to the Dominar 250 – while it also offers the most in terms of equipment such as a quickshifter as standard. That said, the KTM 250 Duke is also the most expensive, demanding an ex-showroom price of Rs 2.27 lakh.
