There’s a new challenger in the motorcycle adventure touring segment. TVS has launched the Apache RTX 300, taking on bikes such as Hero Xpulse 210, Suzuki V-Strom SX, Yezdi Adventure, and KTM 250 Adventure.
Positioned as a versatile machine, the ‘RTX’ moniker – it stands for Rally, Tourer, and Xtreme – highlights its blend of on-road comfort and off-road capability. It’s built around the all-new 299.1-cc engine platform, the RT-XD4 – which was unveiled at the MotoSoul last year in Goa – which delivers segment-leading 36 PS of power and 28.5 Nm of torque.
This impressive output, combined with features like a bidirectional quickshifter, ride-by-wire, and a steel trellis frame, promises a spirited and engaging riding experience.
The bike gets four distinct riding modes (Urban, Rain, Tour, and Rally), cruise control, switchable dual-channel ABS, traction control, and a full-colour TFT display with Google Maps mirroring (on higher variants).
Its main advantage over rivals is its sheer value proposition. Priced Rs 1.99 lakh, ex-showroom, for the entry-level variant and Rs 2.14 lakh for the top-end variant, the Apache RTX is priced nearly identical to the V-Strom SX and the Yezdi Adventure’s base variants, but offers significantly more power and a feature set found in more expensive bikes.
The highly-capable Xpulse 210 is more affordable, but it doesn’t have the road presence of the Apache RTX. The 250 Adventure, on the other hand, matches the Apache RTX in both road presence and feature set, but is far more expensive, at Rs 2.5 lakh onwards.
