Triumph completed one year of its partnership with Bajaj Auto in India last month. In July last year, Triumph launched its first locally developed and manufactured motorcycle in India with the Speed 400. This was followed by the Scrambler 400 which was launched in September. Both bikes have found reasonable success in the Indian market as well as international markets.
Over 50,000 units of both models, all produced in India, have been sold globally till date. Priced at Rs 2.34 lakh and Rs 2.54 lakh (both ex-showroom), respectively, the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 were given a Rs 10,000 discount when Triumph clocked a year with Bajaj. The British brand has now announced an extension of this offer by another month.
Both Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 will be available in Rs 2.24 lakh and Rs 2.54 lakh (both ex-showroom), respectively till 31 August 2024. Triumph first showcased its 400cc motorcycle prodigies on 27th June 2023 in London to a global audience. They were launched in India in July 2023 and received an overwhelming response, with 10,000 bookings within the first ten days.

Currently Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 are available across 100 dealerships in 75 cities across the country. Besides India, both motorcycles are exported to over 50 countries. The 100th Triumph showroom was opened in Dehradun last weekend.
Triumph Speed 400, Scrambler 400X: Specs & features
Powering the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X is the same 398.15cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine which pumps out 39.5bhp at 8,000rpm and a peak torque of 37.5Nm at 6,500rpm. This engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox, while an assist and slipper clutch is standard. However, the cycle parts of both bikes are very different.
Both get the same suspension setup comprising 43mm upside-down front forks and a 43mm upside-down front fork. However, the Scrambler offers more suspension travel due its off-road credentials. The Scrambler 400X gets a larger 320mm front disc as compared to the 300mm disc of the Speed 400. Rear disc brakes are identical at 230mm/

In terms of features, both bikes are equipped with full LED lighting, semi-digital instrument cluster, ride-by-wire throttle, switchable traction control system, type C charging port, and an anti-theft immobiliser as standard. The instrument cluster comprises a large analogue speedometer and an LCD screen that displays a tachometer, fuel range remaining, and a gear indicator. The Scrambler 400 X is offered an additional switchable rear ABS.
