Although the Indian market has warmed up to performance in recent years, mileage still remains one of the most desired attributes for a vehicle buyer, especially for two-wheelers. With the growth of the 150-160cc category of sporty commuter motorcycles in the last few years, let us look at the top five most fuel efficient models in this space.

Honda currently offers 2 models in the 150-160cc segment in the form of Unicorn and SP160. Both these models are powered by the same 162.7cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled motor. In Unicorn, this engine returns a mileage of 60 kmpl, while in SP160 it claims a fuel economy of 65 kmpl. Not only fuel efficiency, but SP 160 also offers a higher power output of 13.27 bhp as opposed to 12.73 bhp generated in Unicorn.

TVS Apache RTR 160 – Mileage: 60 kmpl
TVS continues to sell the older RTR 160 with a 2-valve head. This iteration is powered by a 159.7cc air-cooled motor that kicks out 15.82 bhp and 13.85 Nm of peak torque. TVS claims to offer a mileage of 60 kmpl in the Apache RTR 160. It is priced at Rs 1.20 lakh (ex-showroom).
