Two-wheeler sales continue to lead automotive sales in India as the country still depends on effective transport options. That said, motorcycles sell more than scooters in India despite the latter’s growing popularity. So here are the best-selling two-wheeler brands in May 2024, along with their sales numbers and YoY growth.
Suzuki
In fifth is Suzuki, having sold 81,840 units in May 2024, as compared to selling 61,714 units in May 2023. For Suzuki, the Access is the best-selling scooter, while motorcycle models such as the Gixxers and the V-Strom 250 continue to rack in numbers for the Japanese manufacturer.
Bajaj
Bajaj settles for the fourth position ahead of Suzuki in terms of sales, having registered sales of 1,75,179 units in May 2024. During the same time in May 2023, Bajaj sold 1,86,571 units, witnessing a drop in sales last month. Bajaj has also refreshed its entire Pulsar lineup to attract more customers, which is its best-selling model.
TVS
TVS comes third, having sold 2,63,293 units in May 2024. TVS has seen success with commuter motorcycles, scooters, and electric scooters alike, while its exports have also been strong over the previous months. In comparison, TVS sold 2,53,00 units in May 2023.
Honda
Honda’s battle continues to be on the top with the Activa being its best-seller for many years now. In May 2024, Honda registered sales of 3,90,924 units as compared to selling 2,70,305 units in May 2023. Apart from the Activa, Honda’s commuter motorcycles also add to sales, but scooters play an important role for Honda.
Hero MotoCorp
Hero leads sales and there’s no shaking off the world’s largest two-wheeler maker from the top. Hero MotoCorp registered sales of 4,45,838 units in May 2024 as compared to 5,31,037 units in May 2023, witnessing a drop in sales. For Hero, the Splendor remains the top-seller and the best-selling two-wheeler in India.
