Royal Enfield has pulled a rabbit out of the hat by unveiling the Shotgun 650 at the ongoing Motoverse (formerly known as Rider Mania) in Goa. First introduced, as a pre-production concept as SG 650 at EICMA 2021, the Shotgun 650 is based on the same parallel-twin engine platform as the other 650s from Royal Enfield.
Speaking about the launch of this new motorcycle, Siddhartha Lal, Managing Director of Eicher Motors Ltd., revealed that the Shotgun is a tribute to the customisation culture. He added, “The objective was to build this modular, shape-shifting machine that is almost like a mutant disguised as a motorcycle.”
Royal Enfield Shotgun 650: Design & Features
Shotgun 650 has retained most of its styling elements from the SG 650 concept with a contemporary bobber styling. It gets signature Royal Enfield elements such as a round headlamp, circular turn indicators, a teardrop shaped fuel tank, minimal side panels, and thick front forks. Enfield says its modular design lets it from a classic single-seater to a dual-seater

Other visual highlights include a gloss black engine cover, twin peashooter exhaust mufflers, spoked alloy wheels, shortened front and rear fenders, and a wide, flat handlebar. In comparison to Super Meteor 650, the Shotgun gets a more upright riding posture thanks to the mid-set footpegs and low-set handlebar. The display model at the event came equipped with bar end mirrors which are most likely to be offered as accessories at the time of launch.
In terms of features, it essentially shares the same equipment as the Super Meteor 650 with contents like a semi-digital instrument console, Tripper Navigation with Bluetooth connectivity, all-LED illumination, and a USB charging port. Royal Enfield will be offering plenty of customization options with the Shotgun 650 via the MIY programme.
Royal Enfield Shotgun 650: Specs
Powering the Shotgun 650 is the same 649cc, air/oil-cooled, parallel-twin cylinder which is paired with a 6-speed gearbox via a slip and assist clutch. While output figures remain unknown, it is expected to pump out a similar 47 bhp and 52.3 Nm of peak torque.
As for hardware, it gets upside down front forks with an integrated aluminium top yoke and dual springs at the rear. Braking duties are carried out by disc brakes at both ends aided by dual-channel ABS.
