Triumph is set to launch a new motorcycle tomorrow. Although there is no clarity on which bike exactly it is, we can safely presume it is based on the same 400cc platform co-developed alongside Bajaj Auto. Currently this platform underpins the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X.
At this point of time, it is difficult to predict the exact nature of the bike but Triumph is expected to retain the neo-retro styling elements intact. The British motorcycle brand would like to cash in on the upcoming festive season and the success of the other two models in this platform.
The teaser image shared by Triumph reveals only the dual-tone fuel tank of the upcoming motorcycle which carries the company’s signature triangular branding with white stripe in the middle. From the faint visuals, the bike seems to flaunt a flat single-piece seat. The engine casing with cooling fins is also visible in the teaser image.

Earlier during the launch of the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X, Triumph had said that it will be expanding its 400cc lineup in the future. With that in mind, it seems fitting that Triumph launches an adventure tourer in this lineup. If that is the case, it could possibly flaunt the ‘Tiger’ or ‘Tiger Sport’ nameplate. For the uninitiated, the Tiger moniker is used for the brand’s ADV lineup whereas the Tiger Sport is reserved for the road-based tourers.
New Triumph 400cc bike: Expected features & specs
The upcoming 400cc Triumph is expected to boast an impressive array of features, including a semi-digital instrument console, USB charging port, ride-by-wire throttle, switchable traction control system, and LED headlights and taillights. Mechanically, it’s likely to share similarities with its siblings, featuring a tubular steel frame, upside-down front forks, and a monoshock rear suspension. Braking will be handled by disc brakes at both ends, complemented by dual-channel ABS for enhanced safety.
In terms of specifications, the new bike is expected to ride on 17-inch alloy wheels, similar to the Speed 400. Power will come from a familiar 398.15cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine, producing 39.5bhp at 8,000rpm and a peak torque of 37.5Nm at 6,500rpm. A 6-speed gearbox with a slip and assist clutch will ensure smooth power transmission to the rear wheel. Additionally, multiple ride modes are expected to be offered, similar to the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X.
