The Hero Xtreme series of motorcycles has been popular for Hero MotoCorp, especially given its styling. The Xtreme 160R 4V, in particular, gets a host of segment-first features and stands out in the segment. Hero has updated the motorcycle for 2024, launching an updated version with a few changes and added features, priced at Rs 1.38 lakh ex-showroom.

Hero has retained the overall design of the motorcycle, but subtle changes have given it more practicality over the model it replaces. So here are the changes the new Hero Xtreme 160R gets over the older version.

To start with, on the design front, there are no changes at first glance. The new Hero Xtreme 160R 4V does get a new Kevlar Brown shade with new graphics, which makes the motorcycle look fresh. The second change is the seat, as Hero has opted to go with a single-piece unit instead of the older split seat design to offer more comfort for the pillion. This is a small design change but more of a functional one.

Other hardware remains the same, such as the inverted front forks, a monoshock at the rear, 17-inch wheels, disc brakes at both ends with a dual-channel ABS – a first in the segment – an LCD instrument console, and others. There are some added features though, as the 2024 version of the Xtreme 160R 4V gets a drag race timer to time acceleration and an emergency brake feature that detects rapid deceleration and flashes the lights.

Another aspect of the motorcycle that remains the same is the engine. The older version and the updated Hero Xtreme 160R 4V are powered by the same 163.2cc, single-cylinder air-cooled unit that makes 16.6bhp and 14.6Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a 5-speed gearbox.
