Hero Xtreme 125R launched at Rs 95,000— Bajaj Pulsar NS125 rival

Hero Xtreme 125R is billed as a premium sporty commuter in the 125cc segment with prices starting at Rs 95,000.

Hero MotoCorp has added a new sporty commuter motorcycle to its lineup in the form of Xtreme 125R at Hero World Day 2024. The third 125cc motorcycle from Hero after Super Splendor and Glamour, the Xtreme 125R is targeted at the premium 125cc segment against the likes of Bajaj Pulsar NS 125 and TVS Raider.

With prices starting at Rs 95,000 (ex-showroom), it is priced at a par with its direct rivals. Xtreme 125R available in two variants– IBS (integrated braking system), and single-channel ABS– the latter priced at Rs 99,500 (ex-showroom). There are three colour options on offer including Cobalt Blue, Firestorm Red, and Stallion Red.

While the overall design is carried forward from the larger Xtreme 160R 4V, the Xtreme 125R looks sharper courtesy of sleeker twin LED headlamps, and a muscular fuel tank with extended shrouds. Complementing its sportier styling are split grab rails, a floating tail section, edgier body graphics, a side-slung stubby exhaust muffler, and blacked-out internals and alloy wheels.

For a 125cc bike, the Xtreme 125R is decently kitted offering features like first-in-segment projector LED headlights, LED  turn indicators, hazard lamp, and taillamp,and a negative LCD instrument cluster. The instrument panel offers a gear Position Indicator and Bluetooth connectivity for call and SMS alerts.

Powering Xtreme 125R is a 125cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine which is linked to a five-speed transmission. This motor delivers 11.4 bhp and 10.5 Nm of peak torque. Hero claims this engine to return an impressive fuel efficiency of  66 kmpl, courtesy of Hero’s i3S idle start stop system. As for performance, the Xtreme 125R can go from 0 to 100 kmph in 5.9 seconds.

The Xtreme 125R is underpinned by a lightweight, heavy duty diamond type frame which is suspended on 37mm telescopic forks up front and a 7-step preload adjustable mono-shock at the rear, developed in association with Showa Braking duties are carried out by a 276mm front disc and a rear drum brake, complemented by a single-channel ABS (only on the top variant). It also claims to get the widest rear tyre in the segment with 120/80 tyres.
