Hero MotoCorp has decided to join the premium 125cc segment by launching the Xtreme 125R, which starts from Rs 95,000. Hero currently has four commuter 125cc motorcycles — Glamour, Super Splendor XTEC, Glamour XTEC and Super Splendor, but the Xtreme 125R is the company’s first sporty motorcycle offering in this class. The Xtreme 125R takes on the TVS Raider and the Bajaj Pulsar NS125.
Here’s what you need to know about the Xtreme 125R.
Hero Xtreme 125R: StylingÂ

Sticking to its Xtreme DNA, the new 125cc motorcycle has an edgy design with the front cowl house LED DRLs, LED indicators, LED tail lamp section and LED projector headlights, a first in the segment. The Xtreme 125R sports a muscular tank, split seat, twin grab rails, tyre hugger and a compact chunky exhaust. The new motorcycle is available in two variants — IBS and ABS and both come with three colour options Cobalt Blue, Firestorm Red and Stallion Black. The IBS is priced at Rs 95,000 and the ABS at Rs 99,500, ex-showroom.Â
Hero Xtreme 125R: Hardware
The Xtreme 125R gets a new diamond frame with a 37mm front suspension and a seven-step adjustable mono-shock. The suspension set-up is developed in collaboration with Showa. The entry-level comes equipped with a 240mm front disc brake and 130mm drum along with a combination braking system. The top model gets the same size front disc but sports a 276mm disc brake and single-channel ABS. The Xtreme 125R’s rear tyre is 120/80, which Hero claims is the widest in the segment. It also gets a hazard lamp and an all-digital LCD instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity for call and SMS alerts.

Hero Xtreme 125R: Engine
The Xtreme 125 is powered by a 125 single-cylinder air-cooled with an output of 11.4bhp and 10.5Nm of torque. It is mated to a 5-speed gearbox and Hero claims that the Xtreme 125R does 0-60 kmph in 5.9 seconds. According to Hero, the bike returns 66 kmpl thanks to the i3S idle stop-start system.
