Hero has launched probably its last iteration of the Xpulse 200, called the Xpulse 20 Dakar edition, at Rs 1.67 lakh ex-showroom. The new Xpulse Dakar edition is a tribute to the upcoming 2025 Dakar Rally, which Hero is keen to win with last year’s runner-up, Ross Branch at its helm. The Xpulse 200 Dakar Edition gets a few updates compared to the standard edition of the motorcycle, and here are the key differences.
Hero Xpulse 200 Dakar edition vs standard – Differences

The first difference is the way it looks — the Xpulse Dakar edition gets graphics inspired by the Hero rally motorcycles and gets a Dakar logo on the tank, making it instantly stand out. The other big visual difference is the rally windscreen on the motorcycle compared to the standard one’s short flyscreen. The Hero Xpulse 200 Dakar edition also gets knuckle guard as standard.
The next big change is the suspension, as the Dakar edition of the Xpulse gets adjustable telescopic forks with 250mm of travel, giving the motorcycle a massive 270mm ground clearance compared to the 190mm travel the standard version gets. The motorcycle features slightly tweaked rider ergonomics with updated footpeg position and handlebar risers while getting three ABS modes — Road, off-road, and Rally.

The two motorcycles share a lot in common as well, such as the 21-18 wire-spoke wheel setup, disc brakes at both ends, an LCD instrument cluster, a monoshock at the rear, and the basic overall design with the upswept exhaust. The two motorcycles also share the same 200cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine mated to a 5-speed gearbox.
