The launch of the Harley-Davidson X440 has played a crucial platform for Hero MotoCorp, as it has led to the development of the Mavrick 440, a retro-styled street motorcycle. The platform, being flexible enough, has led to Hero venturing into one of the most popular segments in India, scramblers. Hero has trademarked the Mavrick 440 Scrambler name in India.

The Hero Mavrick is a blank canvas, one could call it, as it can be a base for many motorcycle formats, such as a roadster or a scrambler. The Harley-Davidson X440 is an example of the platform being a cruiser. Taking advantage of this, it makes sense for Hero to build a scrambler around the existing platform.
In terms of design, it’s anyone’s guess. Hero could opt to retain most of the styling and bodywork while giving the motorcycle a set of spoke wheels, larger rims, and taller suspension. Hero could also choose to give it new styling as well.
However, what will remain is the engine, the 440cc, air and oil-cooled single-cylinder unit that makes 27bhp and 36Nm of peak torque, mated to a six-speed gearbox. Hero could also retain the dash and instrument console.
