Amidst all the noise and clatter for its highly anticipated launch, Hero Mavrick 440 made its official debut at the company’s Centre for Innovation and Technology (CIT) in Jaipur, on the occasion of Hero World Day. However, the homegrown bike brand didn’t reveal prices of its flagship model, which will happen in the next few weeks.

Bookings for the Mavrick 440 are slated to commence next month onwards while deliveries will begin from April 2024. The company shared multiple teasers of the middleweight roadster ahead of its debut. It is based on the same platform as Harley Davidson X440 launched last year and co-developed by Hero MotoCorp.

Hero Mavrick 440: Design & features

This is the first time the Maverick 440 has come to light in metal and as previously reported it looks completely different from its American cousin. It borrows the same neo-retro theme as the X440 but looks more rounded courtesy of a muscular fuel tank with extended shrouds. It gets a circular headlamp with an H-shaped LED DRL giving  the bike a unique identity.

Other visual highlights include a chunky grab rail, alloy wheels, an engine sump guard, a single-piece seat with a ribbed pattern, and a side-slung exhaust muffler A total of 5 colour options are offered in Mavrick 440 namely Arctic White (base variant), Celestial Blue and Fearless Red (mid-variant), and Phantom Black and Enigma Black (top variant).

Like the X440, the Mavrick 440 is well kitted with features like fully-digital instrument console like such as speedometer, odometer, tachometer, gear position indicator, Bluetooth connectivity, call and message alerts, turn-by-turn navigation, a USB charger, and distance to empty in addition to various tell tale lights housed within the part circular and part rectangular instrument cluster.

Besides, the Mavrick 440 gets a cutting-edge eSIM-based connectivity offering real-time information, remote tracking, and access to over 35 functions through Connected 2.0 technology. The image also confirms a comfortable and neutral riding posture courtesy of a flat handlebar which is pulled inwards and slightly forward-set footpegs. Other features include a USB-C charging port, and a slipper clutch.

Hero Mavrick 440: Hardware, engine specs

Mavrick 440 is based on the same trellis frame which underpins the Harley Davidson X440. This frame is suspended on 43mm front forks and  preloaded 7-step twin shocks at the rear. Riding on 17-inch alloy wheels, Maverick 440 gets a 175mm ground clearance. The bike stands tall at 803mm seat height. Braking duties will be carried out by 320mm front and 240mm rear disc brakes aided by a dual-channel ABS.

Powering Mavrick 440 is the same single-cylinder 440cc ‘TorqX’ engine with electronic fuel injection which is borrowed from the Harley Davidon. This long-stroke engine delivers 27 bhp at 6000 rpm and a peak torque of 36 Nm at 4000 rpm. The motor is paired with a 6-speed transmission with a slip-and-assist clutch.
