Hero MotoCorp resurrected the Karizma nameplate back from the dead with the launch of the Karizma XMR 210 in August 2023. Despite Karizma’s nostalgic value in the Indian biking community, the new XMR 210 couldn’t fly and sales dropped dramatically after positive response for the bike in the initial months after the launch.
In fact, there are rumours of Hero pulling the plug on the Karizma 210 once the larger and more powerful Karizma 250 makes its way to the market. Officially, the Karizma 210 remains on sale as the motorcycle is still listed on the company’s website. However, the sales figures tell a completely different story.

Hero Karizma XMR 210 on the way out?
Since the past one year, Hero has sold only 4,806 units of the entry-level sports tourer. To make matters worse, since December 2024, the homegrown bike manufacturer hasn’t dispatched a single unit of the Karizma 210. Further, March 2024 was the last month when Hero dispatched over 1,000 units of the Karizma from its factory. Sales dwindled to 7 units in October 2024, and reduced to 4 units in November 2024 before coming to a halt.

Powering the Hero Karizma XMRÂ was a 210cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, four-valve motor that was developed from the ground. This motor churns out 25.15bhp at 9,250rpm and 20.4Nm at 7,250rpm while being mated to a six-speed gearbox via a slip and assist clutch. The same engine can now be found in the recently launched Hero Xpulse 210.
Hero Karizma 250: Specs & Expected launch
Hero took the covers off from the upcoming Karizma 250 at EICMA2024 in Milan, Italy. The quarter-litre sports bike made its India debut at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo earlier in January this year. Bookings for the Karizma 250 are expected to commence soon followed by deliveries in the coming few weeks. At this point, it can’t be confirmed if the existing Hero Karizma XMR 210 will remain on sale or not.Â

The upcoming Karizma 250 is powered by the same 250cc, DOHC, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that is found on the recently launched Xtreme 250R. This unit kicks out 29.5bhp at 9,250rpm and 25Nm of torque at 7,250rpm. Transmission duties will be carried out by a six-speed gearbox aided by a slip and assist clutch.
