Hero MotoCorp has extended its partnership agreement with Harley-Davidson to develop more motorcycles for select markets around the globe. The first motorcycle under the partnership was the Harley-Davidson X440 and that in turn, paved the path for the Hero Mavrick 440. The product has proven to be successful for both companies and the partnership extension will give rise to more models.
Hero-Harley partnership
The partnership between Hero MotoCorp and Harley-Davidson began in 2020 and the first product – Harley-Davidson X440 – was launched in 2023, and carries a price tag of Rs 2.80 lakh, ex-showroom. The motorcycle is being made by Hero at the company’s facility in Neemrana, Rajasthan.
In an official filing, Hero stated, “The extension of the existing collaboration between Hero and Harley-Davidson, which has been in place since October 2020, will expand the X440 motorcycle into new variants and develop and manufacture a new motorcycle.”
The collaboration is an attempt for Hero to enter the premium motorcycle segment, similar to how Bajaj teamed up with Triuymph and TVS with BMW. Hero’s primary sales are in the 100–110cc segment and with the motorcycle segment transitioning to more premium products, Hero’s collaboration with Harley-Davidson makes sense.
