BMW has teased its R 1250R replacement for the global markets — the R 1300R. Set to be unveiled on April 10, the motorcycle follows the launch of the BMW R12 GS, and the motorcycle is expected to get some crucial changes to its design, chassis, and most importantly, its engine. Here’s what we can expect from the new BMW R 1300R.
BMW R 1300R — What changes can we expect?
Firstly, the motorcycle could see tweaks done to its chassis to accommodate the new 1300cc engine, the same unit that powers the R 1300 GS. Tweaks to the chassis could also mean updates to the design, which is expected to give the motorcycle a cleaner look compared to the model it replaces.
Tweaks to the design could also mean updates to the suspension, brakes, instrumentation and other bits. We can expect the motorcycle to feature electronic suspension, BMW’s fully integral braking system (combi brakes), blind spot detection, heated grips, heated seats, and more. The traction control system could also see tweaks done to offer a better riding experience.
Coming to the engine itself, it will be the same unit that does its duty on the new R 1300 GS. It is a 1300cc boxer twin that makes 145bhp and 149Nm of peak torque with the help of a six-speed gearbox. The motorcycle is expected to get a quickshifter as standard. Expect BMW to launch the new R 1300R in the European markets first, followed by its launch in India.
