The Indian two-wheeler market has seen an influx of electric scooters in the last 2-3 years. The year 2024 also witnessed numerous battery-powered scooters launched in the country. Let us look at the top 5 electric scooters launched in India this year.
1. Ather Rizta
Ather launched its new family scooter in April this year at a starting price of Rs 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom) with the intention of offering a more practical everyday scooter for an average Indian family. Offered in two battery options: 2.9 kWh and 3.7 kWh, the Rizta promises a range of 123 km and 160 km, respectively, on a single charge.

The highlight of Rizta is the enormous luggage space of 56 litres consisting of a 35-litre underseat storage and a 22-litre front glove compartment. The Rizta can clock a top speed of 80 kmph and there are two ride modes on offer– Zip and SmartEco.
2. Hero Vida V2
Hero MotoCorp launched the new Vida V2 electric scooter earlier this month at a starting price of Rs 96,000 (ex-showroom). The V2 is available in three variants: Lite, Plus, and Pro, offering 2.2 kWh, 3.44 kWh, and 3.94 kWh battery packs, respectively. Hero says that the batteries can be recharged at home, which takes about 6 hours to charge up to 80 percent. The V2 is powered by a motor which develops 25 Nm of torque across all variants. The V2 Pro can accelerate from 0–40 kmph in 2.9 seconds while reaching a top speed of 90 kmph.

3. TVS iQube ST 5.1
TVS launched a more powerful top-spec version of the iQube ST with a larger 5.1 kWh battery pack in May this year. Priced at Rs 1.85 lakh (ex-showroom), this variant of the iQube ST claims a range of 150 km on a single charge. It can clock a top speed of 82 kmph. Features in the iQube ST 5.1 variant include 7-inch full colour TFT touchscreen, over 118 connected features, voice assist via Alexa, digital document storage, and tyre pressure monitoring system.

4. Bajaj Chetak 35 Series
Bajaj launched the new-gen Chetak called the 35 Series earlier this month. Currently available in two variants: 3502 and 3501, priced at Rs 1.20 lakh and Rs 1.27 lakh (both ex-showroom), respectively. Bajaj offers the Chetak 35 Series with a 3.5 kWh battery pack which offers an IDC range of 153km, which translates to approximately 125km range in the real world. Top speed is claimed at 73 kmph.

5. Honda Activa e:
Honda launched the electric version of Activa called Activa e: in November this year. Bookings for the Activa electric will commence from 1 January 2025 while deliveries are expected to begin February onwards. The Activa e: comes with two such swappable batteries, each of 1.5 kWh capacity promising a combined range of 102 km on a single charge. Honda will also launch its own battery sharing service called Honda e:Swap.Â
