Bajaj Auto has officially confirmed the launch of the new 400cc Pulsar for 3 May 2024. Likely to be named Pulsar NS400, the new model will sit on top of the Pulsar lineup which is currently occupied by the recently-updated N250. Ahead of its launch, Bajaj has started teasing the upcoming 400cc Pulsar with short clips on the company’s social media handles.
Recently, spy shots of the final production-spec Pulsar NS400 were leaked from the factory floor which highlighted the bike’s design. The recent spy clicks and teasers tell us a lot about the upcoming 400cc Pulsar. Let us check them out.
Bajaj Pulsar NS400: Radical design
The leaked images revealed a very radical design for the Pulsar NS400, especially for its front fascia. The front end is dominated by a single-pod projector headlamp flanked by lightning-shaped LED DRL on each side which gives the bike a mean look. The cluster itself is encased within an elaborate arrangement.

The 400cc Pulsar enhances its sporty stance with a muscular fuel tank with extended shrouds. The rear feels familiar to the recent set of Pulsars with a floating tail section, split grab rails, split seats, a tyre hugger, and twin LED taillamps. The unit seen in the latest spy shot is wearing a red colour scheme. Other visual highlights include black alloy wheels and golden-coloured USD forks.
A recent leaked image suggests that Bajaj will offer the NS400 in four dual-tone colour schemes including— Glossy Ebony Black, Metallic Pearl White, Cocktail Wine Red and Pewter Grey.
Bajaj Pulsar NS400: Expected features & hardware
Since it’ll be the flagship Pulsar going forward, we expect the new Pulsar NS400 to be packed with some of the most exotic equipment. These include a fully-digital instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity via Bajaj Ride Connect app, turn-by-turn navigation, call and text alerts, and a USB charging port.
Like the recently updated quarter-litre Pulsar, the Pulsar NS200 will benefit from electronic aids such as traction control and multiple ABS modes: Road, Rain, and Off-road. In terms of hardware, the spy images suggest it is based on the same perimeter frame suspended as Pulsar NS200 which is suspended on golden coloured 43mm upside-down front forks and a rear mono-shock.
Braking duties will be carried out by disc brakes at both ends aided by dual-channel ABS. The bike rolls on 17-inch front and rear alloy wheels which are shod with fat tyres.
Bajaj Pulsar NS400: Expected powertrain
There is still some ambiguity regarding the engine on the Pulsar NS400. Most reports indicate that Bajaj will employ the 373cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor used in the Dominar 400 and the older-gen KTM 390 range. This motor is expected to get the same output as Dominar, i.e, 40 bhp and 35 Nm of peak torque. It will be paired with a 6-speed gearbox with a slip and assist clutch.
