Bajaj has opened nationwide bookings for the Freedom 125, the world’s first CNG motorcycle. Priced at Rs 95,000 ex-showroom, the Freedom 125 is available in three variants and the first motorcycle was delivered to a customer in Pune.
The Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG created a lot of buzz and could be a game-changer in the two-wheeler industry, as this is the first CNG-powered motorcycle in the world, and Bajaj promises a range of 330km on a full tank.
The Bajaj Freedom 125 is powered by a 125cc, single-cylinder air-cooled engine that makes 9.3bhp and 9.7Nm of torque, while being paired to a 5-speed gearbox. The Freedom has a 2-litre fuel tank and a 2kg CNG tank housed below the rider’s seat, wrapped in a new trellis frame.
The motorcycle, based on the variant of the Freedom 125, gets an LED headlight, disc or drum brake option, a digital instrument console with phone connectivity, telescopic forks, and a monoshock at the rear, which is a segment first.
The Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG motorcycle competes with the Hero Splendour 125, Honda Shine 125, and other 125cc commuter motorcycles in the segment while managing to stand out in terms of design and of course, its CNG powertrain.
