25 years ago, Bajaj was the first manufacturer to introduce a CNG-powered auto rickshaw in India which revolutionised public transportation in a big way. Now, when CNG has become a common phenomenon in passenger vehicles, especially in the fleet and shared mobility space, Bajaj is set to revolutionise India’s mobility industry once again.
It is a known secret that Bajaj has been working on a CNG motorcycle for a long time. Test mules of this bike have been spotted on multiple occasions over the past year or so. We can now confirm that this bike is set to make its official debut on 5 July 2024. Bajaj has sent us a media invite for the same date during which the “World’s First CNG bike” will be unveiled.
The CNG bike will be unveiled in the presence of Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Nitin Gadkari in Pune. There is still ambiguity regarding the name of the upcoming CNG bike. However, reports indicate that it is likely to be called ‘Bruzer’ which was recently trademarked in India by the Chakan-based bikemaker. The introduction of CNG bike is part of the Indian government’s push towards sustainable alternative fuels over the last decade.

With prices of petrol hovering around Rs 100 for most parts of the country for a very long time now, and mass adoption of fully electric vehicles still a distant future, CNG or compressed natural gas could be the perfect alternative solution for two-wheelers. And Bajaj will take the first mover’s advantage.
Bajaj CNG bike: Expected details
Bajaj CNG bike is likely to be based on a double cradle frame and could be powered by a ‘sloper engine’. While exact details regarding this engine are still under wraps, it is expected to employ a 110-150cc engine. We expect the new CNG bike to be powered by a 125cc engine which can run on both petrol and CNG and the transition between the different fuels will be smooth and seamless.
A small petrol tank is also present to offer extra range and serve as a backup, should one run out of CNG. Designed specifically to cater to the requirements of cost-conscious buyers,, Bajaj claims the upcoming CNG bike should be able to cut down on operating and fuel costs by up to 50-65%.
