TVS Motor Company is reportedly working on an all-new commuter motorcycle that will reportedly arrive bearing the name ‘Prestige’. The information has been leaked by folks at Motoroids and the report says that the affordable motorcycle will challenge the likes of Hero Splendor and HF Deluxe. This means that the upcoming TVS Prestige will be positioned in the 100cc commuter slot in the company’s product portfolio. Currently, the TVS Sport is available as the company’s only 100cc motorcycle. With the arrival of the new TVS Prestige, TVS will intend to offer one more budget-friendly option to the masses. The new TVS Prestige will most likely share its engine with the TVS Sport. That said, the motorcycle will come powered by a 99.7cc, air-cooled engine mated to a four-speed transmission. The carbureted mill in the TVS Sport is good for producing respective power and torque outputs of 7 bhp and 7.8 Nm and the numbers will be more or less similar in the Prestige as well.
The suspension set up of the new TVS Prestige will comprise of conventional telescopic forks at the front along with twin spring shock absorbers at the rear. Drum brakes will be equipped at both ends for stopping and we do not think that there will be a disc brake even as an option. Other expected visual highlights of the new TVS Prestige are sporty styling, clear lens turning winkers, alloy wheels and a lot more.
We believe that the upcoming TVS Prestige will be priced in the Indian two-wheeler market at under Rs 50,000 (ex-showroom). As we have seen recently that TVS is aiming at innovativeness in its vehicles, we expect to see some interesting elements in its new budgeted commuter motorcycle as well. As already mentioned, the TVS Prestige will take on the likes of some of the most affordable motorcycles available in India like Hero Splendor and Bajaj Platina. More details on the upcoming TVS Prestige in the coming days!
