Scramblers have been a recent motorcycling phenomenon in the Indian market which currently holds a niche space. In simpler ways to speak, they bridge the gap between the road-biased commuters or roadsters and the full-blown adventure tourers. There are only a handful of options in the entry-level scrambler segment.
Let us check out five most affordable scramblers currently on sale in the Indian market
5 most affordable scramblers in India
- Keeway SR 125/SR 250
Keeway is a relatively lesser known brand in India and hasn’t been able to make a significant mark despite being in the market for over a year. Yet, it is the one that offers the most affordable scramblers in the country in the form of the SR 125 and the SR 250. The former is priced at Rs 1.20 lakh, while the latter is priced at Rs 1.49 lakh (both ex-showroom). As evident, the SR 125 is powered by a 125cc engine and the SR 250 gets a quarter-litre mill.

- Royal Enfield Scram 411
Royal Enfield introduced the Scram 411 based on the Himalayan in March last year, as a more accessible, lighter, and road-friendly version of the latter. Yet the Scram 411 is a very capable off-road machine at a slightly lowered starting price of Rs 2.08 lakh (ex-showroom). It is powered by the same 411cc, single-cylinder, oil and air-cooled engine as the Himalayan that puts out 24.3 bhp of peak power and 32 Nm of peak torque.

- Yezdi Scrambler
Mahindra-owned Classic Legends revived the Yezdi brand of motorcycles in early 2022 with three brand new models including the Scrambler. While the bike in itself is a very capable machine in itself, concerns such as modest quality, and delayed delivery have plagued the Classic Legends which resulted in modest sales figures. Prices of the Yezdi Scrambler start at Rs 2.18 lakh and go up to Rs 2.18 lakh (both ex-showroom).

- Husqvarna Svartpilen 250
Husqvarna came with a lot of promise when it introduced the Svartpilen and Vitpilen in India and initially gained a lot of traction. Svartpilen, in particular, was appreciated for its scrambler-ish styling complemented by strong performance from its engine, sourced from the Bajaj-Triumph partnership. However, the bike hasn’t received any significant update since its launch and has now fallen out of favour.
It is powered by a 249cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor that belts out 31 bhp and 24 Nm of peak torque. Transmission duties are carried out by 6-speed gearbox. Svartpilen carries a price tag of Rs 2.25 lakh (ex-showroom).
- Triumph Scrambler 400 X
Triumph Scrambler 400 X is the latest addition to the list of scramblers in India. Co-developed and manufactured by Bajaj Auto, this motorcycle gets the same architecture and powertrain as Speed 400. Available in a single variant, the Scrambler 400 X is priced at Rs 2.63 lakh (ex-showroom). It is powered by a 398cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that pushes out 39.5 bhp and 37.5 Nm of torque, which is paired with a 6-speed gearbox.
