Honda has filed a patent for another two-wheeler in India. The Japanese auto giant has a knack of filing patents for several two-wheelers in India even though they might not be the company’s immediate area of focus. Nevertheless, the latest patent filed by Honda is the Scoopy which is on sale in Indonesia.
Interestingly, this isn’t the first time that Honda has filed a patent application for the Scoopy. The company had filed a patent for the 110cc scooter in 2023 as well. It is a common exercise OEMs practice to secure their product design in case they decide to launch the product in that particular country in the near or distant future.
Honda Scoopy: Styling highlights
As seen in the patent images, the design resonates with the latest iteration of Scoopy which flaunts neo-retro styling elements along with curvy and flowing body panels. The most noticeable highlight is a crystal‑block LED headlamp with an integrated circular DRL encased within the front apron. Another unique highlight are the D-shaped LED turn indicators on either side of the apron.

The rest of the scooter looks very conventional with a clean profile, a single-piece seat, a flat footboard, and a single-piece grab rail. One interesting visual highlight is the sleek rear body panel which is unusual in conventional petrol scooters. Moreover, it gets an exhaust muffler which looks borrowed from a motorcycle. In Indonesia, Honda offers the Scoopy in as many as eight colour options. These are complemented by dual-tone themes and attractive, sporty graphics, depending on the choice of variant.
Honda Scoopy: Specs & Features
Powering Honda Scoopy is the 109.5 cc, eSP, SOHC, air-cooled engine that propels the Activa in India. This motor kicks out 9 bhp and 9.2 Nm of peak torque while being paired with a CVT automatic gearbox. The scooter is based on an underbone chassis that sits on telescopic front forks and swing arm rear suspension. Braking hardware comprises a front disc and a rear drum brake. The scooter rides on 12-inch wheels at both ends, wrapped in 100/90 front and 110/90 rear tubeless tyres.

If and when launched in India, the Scoopy is expected to be placed above Activa in Honda’s two-wheeler lineup. Hence, it will offer a good set of features including a Smart Key with keyless ignition, an anti-theft alarm, and an LCD instrument console. That said, we don’t see Honda launching the Scoopy in India anytime soon.
