A Reddit user shared a story of professional vindication after a company that had once rejected him for being inexperienced ended up signing a contract with his own AI solutions startup. The user, who graduated just a year ago, had applied for a Junior AI Engineer position at his dream company. He cleared the technical rounds easily but was told during the Manager/HR interview that the company was looking for someone with more experience.
“I was pretty disappointed. I was a fresher with no experience, but I had a couple projects that I had done on my own time to showcase as my portfolio,” he wrote.
From Rejection to Entrepreneurship
A few months after the rejection, the Reddit user, along with a friend, started their own company specializing in AI solutions and launched multiple software product lines. Their hard work and persistence eventually paid off in a way they had never expected.
Last week, the startup’s marketing team received a call from the very same company that had rejected him. They were interested in the startup’s services and wanted to discuss potential collaboration. The user instantly recognized the client and told his team he would personally handle the account.
“Hard work finally paid off”
“Of course, they didn’t recognize me and I intend to keep it that way (Professional courtesy, taking the moral high ground by not rubbing it in). But I am low key super proud of myself and feel like all the hard work finally paid off! This feeling is somehow more worth than all the money and growth could ever give!” he added.
