India pacer Harshit Rana claimed Liam Livingstone’s wicket as England lost their 6th wicket. Livingstone made 5(10) and 19 runs have come in the last 5 overs with 2 wickets.

English skipper Jos Buttler departs. Axar Patel traps Buttler who was looking so comfortable. He made 52 off 67 balls with four boundaries. A big blow to the English innings as it is their fifth wicket. Liam Livingston is the new man in.

Jos Buttler reaches his much-needed fifty. The English skipper took 58 balls to cross 50-run mark with four 4s. England has still so much time to repair and regain the momentum in their favour.

England are recovering slowly and steadily as both Buttler and Bethell have managed to build a 50-run partnership in 68 balls. 25 runs have come in last 5 overs with no wicket.

The England innings has reached the halfway mark. After 25 overs, England are 138/4 with Jos Buttler unbeaten at 37. One solid partnership can take England to a fighting total. A couple of quick wickets can make things easy for the hosts.

India have brought Mohd Shami back to attack in the 24th over. With Buttler looking comfortable at 36 off 38 balls, India is eyeing a wicket to break the momentum for England.

A sharp bouncer does the trick for Brook as Nagpur erupts in celebration. Rana, on his ODI debut, completes a double-wicket over. He digs it in short, angling it in, and Brook tries to fend it away. However, the extra bounce catches him off guard, and he gloves it down the leg side. Rahul moves swiftly to his left and takes an easy catch. India finishes the powerplay on a high!

Harshit Rana strikes again! Duckett is out, courtesy of a stunning catch by Jaiswal. The two Indian debutants combine as Rana digs in a hard-length delivery. Duckett, caught in two minds, attempts a pull but miscues it high. Midwicket sprints back and dives full-length to take a sensational catch. Two wickets in five balls—India fights back!

Finally, India got their first breakthrough as opener Phil Salt got run out. Excellent work by Shreyas Iyer who collected the ball near the boundary rope and sent it back to KL Rahul to dismantle the stumps. Salt hit 43 off 26 balls. Joe Root is the new man in.

15 runs off the 8th over and still there is no chance of a breakthrough for India. England batters are dominating the game now. Three bowlers have been used so far. Hardik is with the ball now for India.

With no grass on the Nagpur pitch and bowlers are not getting any movement, England batters are making most of it. 56 for no loss for England with 8 runs per over average. This partnership may prove fatal for India. Axar Patel is the first ball change.

The Rohit Sharma-led side handed debuts to young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal and seamer Harshit Rana. This is India‘s first ODI since August 2024, when they lost a three-match series 0-2 to Sri Lanka.

We wanted to bowl first, but it doesn’t matter a lot. Need to be aggressive with the ball at the start and then need to do well later. Nice to get some time off, it’s a fresh start and this is a great chance to do well. It’s very important to get some gametime, try and maximize whatever opportunity we have. Jaiswal and Harshit are making his debut, unfortunately Virat isn’t playing, he had a knee problem last night.

Skipper Rohit Sharma confirmed that Virat Kohli is missing out the first ODI at Nagpur due to a knee injury. Kohli was seen with a strap around his right knee and is seen walking gingerly as he joins the team in some light practice session

It’s rock hard, there’s a bit of grass, but there’s no moisture and it’s dry. Not a lot in it for the bowlers, but this being a red soil pitch, spin will come into play later on. It’s a good cricket pitch and a high score can be expected.

India have made an interesting addition of Varun Chakaravarthy to their ODI setup given his stellar showing in the shorter format. Arshdeep will also be shouldering responsibility in the absence of Bumrah.
