Earlier in the evening, Delhi Capitals had a blazing innings at their adopted home in Vizag in match 13 of Tata IPL 2024. Winning the toss against Chennai Super Kings, DC skipper Rishabh Pant opted to bat first. DC openers didn’t disappoint their captain as both Prithvi Shaw and David Warner frustrated CSK bowlers. At one point, a 200+ score on the board looked like a natural conclusion of DC’s innings.
However, CSK bowlers – Matheesha Pathirana and Mustafizur Rahman – went into a course correction. In quick succession, DC lost both openers. While Warner made his 62nd IPL half-century off 35 balls, Shaw slammed 43 runs from 27 deliveries. Mitchell Marsh and Tristan Stubbs were unimpressive. But DC skipper Rishabh Pant played a terrific knock. His half-century looked like the maverick batter and his helicopter shots are back!
Led by the 27-year-old Ruturaj Gaikwad, CSK has been playing amazingly well and looks strong in all aspects. Meanwhile, under Rishabh Pant’s leadership, DC will look forward to turn their luck around and try to find their momentum.
