SBI Card has announced some key changes this month, which will impact select premium cardholders. Earlier, between April and July, several other banks made many major changes in the rules related to their credit cards. Big changes in rules for select SBI credit cards from August 2025

From August 11, SBI Card has decided to discontinue air accident insurance benefit on some of its select premium cards. These include ELITE, PRIME and some Platinum co-branded cards. Till now, complimentary air accident cover of Rs 50 lakh to Rs 1 crore was available on these cards. But now this benefit will stop.

If you are a holder of these cards, you must check your policy and card benefits before August 11.

Important credit card rule changes between April to July 2025

July 15, 2025 – SBI Card

-Calculation of minimum amount due changed

-Now it will include GST, EMI, fees and 2% of the previous dues.

Allocation order of payment changed

-Now card payment will be charged first on GST and charges, then EMI and then on other expenses.

July 1, 2025 – HDFC Bank Card

1% fee on spending more than Rs 50,000

-This fee will be charged on online gaming, wallet loading, bill payments etc. (limit Rs 75,000 on some cards).

Reward point limit on insurance fixed

-Infinia card – 10,000 points, Diners Black – 5,000 points, other cards – 2,000 points limit has been fixed.

July – Kotak, ICICI, Axis

-Kotak shuts down Myntra card, existing customers are being shifted to League card.

-ICICI and Axis increase ATM, IMPS and branch transaction charges

-ICICI fixes fee on international ATM transactions from Rs 125 to Rs 150.
