Telangana election 2018: With just a few days left for polling, all the political parties including BJP and Congress have intensified their campaign in Telangana. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Monday launched a scathing attack at each other in Telanaga.
Addressing a rally in Hyderabad, the prime minister said: “In Telangana, what we are seeing is dynastic politics. Out of all the parties, which are contesting these elections, only one party, the BJP values the democratic ideals.” This was Modi’s second visit to Telangana in one week. Last week, Modi had addressed election meetings at Nizamabad and Mahabubnagar.
The Congress President too attacked PM Modi and ruling TRS in the state. He said: “Modi has controlled Telangana via a remote control. TRS real name is T(RSS). Their main intention is to keep Modi as PM in 2019. We will defeat TRS, MIM and then BJP in 2019.” Telangana will vote on December 7.

He said that the opposition alliance will make a clean sweep and TRS will be contained to just 35 seats in the 119-member state assembly.

"It's sad that Telangana CM helped Modi so much in last 5 yrs. He helped them in President election and Vice President election. Everyone opposed demonetisation but KCR praised it under pressure, he even praised Gabbar Singh Tax," Telangana Elections.
Addressing an election rally, KCR on Sunday said that TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu was trying to spread political anonymity among the people of Telangana for his political gains. Ahead of his visit to Telangana, Congress President Rahul Gandhi said that the state was born out of idealism, but in the last four years the arrogance and corruption of the BJP and ruling TRS has made the people cynical. With barely two more days left for campaigning to end in Telangana, Gandhi will address two public meetings in the state on Monday.
The AIMIM has fielded candidates on only 8 seats against 15 in 2014. The party is supporting TRS nominees in the remaining constituencies. The seats where AIMIM has dominance are in Hyderabad. Muslim voters are believed to be between 35 and 60% in 10 constituencies in Hyderabad and anywhere between 10 to 40% in 50 other constituencies in the state.
According to a report in IANS, Muslim votes in Telangana are likely to be split between the ruling TRS and Congress-TDP. Muslims constitute over 12% of state's 3.51 crore population. They are crucial in what appears to be a straight fight between the TRS and the People's Front that comprises TDP, CPI and Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) as its other constituents.
The TRS is contesting elections solo. However, AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi has announced that his party will support the TRS in elections barring 7 seats where it has fielded candidates. The AIMIM is contesting elections from 7 seats in this elections against 15 in 2014. According to opinion polls, the TRS is likely to form government again in the state.
BJP president Amit Shah has accused Congress and TRS of indulging in minority appeasement. On Sunday, he reiterated that his party will not allow the TRS to provide 12% reservations to Muslims, adding that there was no provision for religion-based quota in the Constitution.
Now AIMIM MLA Asaduddin Owaisi who is younger brother Akbaruddin Owaisi reacted strongly to Adityanath's comment. He said that nobody can force them flee. "We are not the one who will flee. Our 1,000 generations will live here," Akbaruddin said. Akbaruddin represents Chandrayangutta seat in Telangana Legislative Assembly.
The ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) of K Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday released its manifesto for December 7 elections in Telangana. In its election document, the party has promised higher to increase age of government servants by 3 years to 61. Congress president Rahul Gandhi will address rallies in Telangana on Monday to seek public support for his party candidates. The Congress is contesting elections in an alliane with the TDP of Chandrababu Naidu. As per the schedule, Rahul's first rally will be held at 1 pm in Gadwal. From here, the Congress leader will travel to Tandur where he will address another election rally at around 3 pm. "Telangana was born of idealism & great dreams. But, 4 yrs. of TRS/BJP incompetence, arrogance & corruption has made the people cynical. I am in Telangana today to address public meetings & to assure the great people of this state that the Congress will help fulfil their dreams," he said in a tweet this morning.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address an election rally in Hyderabad on Monday. Modi returned from Argentina last night where he had gone to attend the G20 Summit. This will be Modi's second visit to Telangana in one week. Last week, Modi had addresses two election rallies in Nizamabad and Mahabubnagar where he had dubbed Congress and TRS two sides of same coin.
AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi reacted to Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath's remark that if BJP comes to power in Telangana, Owaisi will have to flee. He said, "It is my religious belief that Prophet Adam when he descended on the Earth from Paradise, he came to India. Thus India is my father's country and nobody can force me flee."
On Sunday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that if the BJP forms next government in Telangana, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi and his younger brother Akbaruddin will have to flee Hyderabad. BJP president Amit Shah on Sunday address election rallies in Telangana and held a roadshow in Malkajgiri. The roadshow was attended by scores of BJP workers.
Elections in Telangana were originally scheduled to be held along with Lok Sabha elections next year but the Legislative Assembly was prematurely dissolved by KCR on September 6. Polling in the state will be held on December 7 in a single phase and the counting of votes will be done on December 11 along with Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Mizoram,.
